I just looked and the calendar and realized that in one week it will be February, so here is an updated listing on resources for Black History Month.

African Voices- Africans talk about their lives and cultures; EXCELLENT SITE from the Smithsonian Institution.


African-American History Month- site hosted by the Library of Congress, there is a section for teachers

African-American Scavenger Hunt- grades 7-8


The African-American Migration Experience- contains 8,300 images, 17,000 pages of texts and over 60 maps; this site is hosted by the New York Public Library.



African-American World-from PBS, this site has highlights such as the Kids section (with games and e-cards), and the Brainteaser Quizzes. There are related lessons plans for grades three through twelve.

Let's Talk About the Weather: 32 Places For Students to Explore

A few days ago, I was sitting outside my hotel in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, sipping fresh orange juice and looking at the beach. (Although I did not take the above photo, it accurately represents the view) Today, I am back at work, awaiting a huge snowstorm which will bring us up to 8 inches of snow. With all the extreme weather changes we have been experiencing lately, I decided to put together a collection of resources to teach students about the weather. (All ages are covered.)
